John,
I have the 10″ Bosch miter saw and like it alot. The front controls and variable handle are worth alot to me. That is a good price for the 12″ saw

I have the Bosch 3912 CMS and I like it lot. I also have a Bosch jigsaw and it is great.
I think in the world of 12" SCMS's the Dewalt is a better saw than the Bosch, some of the Bosch componentry is a bit cheesy and prone to getting bent, broken or mis-aligned. Dewalt's latest version looks like a solid performer and will cut taller stock against the fence which is often nice in this era of taller baseboards, the new detent overide is a great addition, not sure why they changed the scale and the pointer location from the old version though, both were better on the old version (in my opinion). I own the older Dewalt, I know people who have the Bosch and like it, especially the bevel controls up front, I have never found reaching around the back of the saw to change the bevel angle to be a big deal though. I have also used the Makita and it is perhaps the most precise of the 3, of couse there is Hitachi too. What ever you decide, get a top notch blade to go with it (may I suggest the Freud LU85R if you are not using the slide much, and the LU91R if you are mostly doing slide cuts), you will love your saw a whole lot more with one of these blades.
I guess my advice would be to look at the offerings and see which has the best combo of features for your tastes and then go with that one regardless of which one is more or less money (they are all within about $100 of each other anyway).
