Hi
I’m new to the site and would like some advice on Brad nailers. I’ve read all of the articles including the very informative article by Roland Johnson where he compares many different models. I am pretty uch set to buy the Paslode T200-F18 which he highly rates. The only concern is how much of an issue is the presence of oil and the potential fo staining wood. Should I opt for an oilless model? Is oil enough of an isue to cause me to switch my preference or is some care in not using too much oil adequate to prevent this being an issue.
Thanks in advance for your input

The oil stays in the crankcase for the most part. Any that gets past the rings is so minute it's not a concern. Oil type compressors are longer lasting and quieter. Over oiling the gun is the ususal culprit. I'd be looking at Hitachi guns if a professional. I've had good luck with imports such as Airy. Back from my tool repair days (of machines, compressors. nail guns) I'd recommend a Rolaire compressor. Been using nailguns in shops with oil type compressors for 35 years. It's a myth about oil coming out of the crankcase and staining the wood.

I wasn't asking about the air compressor but the gun itself. Some of the bradnailers such as DeWalt and Senco are advertised as "oil-free design" whereas the Paslode and some others come with oil. I was just wondering if the oil on the gun is enough of an issue to not buy it.

Makes no difference whether the gun is oil type or oil less in picking one.
The one thing I noticed is all the oil less guns I've seen don't say oil less so when a shop gets a new gun they tend to oil it even though it's an oil less gun. Can't say for sure if it hurts the gun much. Usually the gun would come in for some other broken part and we'd find all this oil inside.
Over oiling the gun can result in staining - but that's only if you're *pouring* oil into the chamber. A few drops, here and there, as suggested, and you'll be fine. My experience is that oiled guns and compressors last longer and run quieter than oilless.
I'm with Rick and his suggestion for Hitachi. With one exception - a Senco finish nailer - I use Hitachi guns (Commercial Shop) and couldn't be happier. It's amazing how much of a beating Hitachi guns can take and keep performing. Great guns...
