Brazing Band Saw Blade – Good or Bad Idea?
My Laguna 1″ carbide tooth rip bandsaw blade recently broke. A replacement blade will cost $216 (!) Is it a good or bad idea to instead have the broken blade “brazed”. If brazing is a good option where does one go to have brazing done?
Thanks for any help,

Blade brazing is quite common but it has to be correctly done to keep it straight and not have any build up of metal that will clank through the guides. It takes perfectly matching scarf joints. Check at your saw sharpening shop.
Thanks Hammer for your expertise. I am going to follow your advice.

Repair
You might also talk to Laguna about repairing the blade.
Hi Tenderfoot Bob . Once blade is broken , it needs to be replaced. tHE reasons why we have to change the blade once broken : it may not cut straight,it may break easily and there are other tendencies that may occur while doing a cut . I have Haltbar blades and really working great for me, such quality blades I must say . You can inquire with http://www.sawblade.com . Or you can give them a call perhaps.
