I am making a dining table in the craftsman style. The table field is made. I,m wondering whether I shoud extend the breadboard ends a little beyond the field or make it the same width as the field. I’m aware that there will be would movement and have followed procedure with regard to tenon etc. Is their a general rule regarding the breadboard end or is it an individual preference. Thanks

Hi,
It's an individual thing whether or not to keep the breadboard ends the same length as the table top. The advantage is that all movement is disguised. Greene and Greene came up with a nice way of doing it by adding a spline to transition between the two different surfaces and to hide any movement as well. But you can't go wrong either way. Have fun.

Thanks for the input. Greene and Greene article in last Fine Woodworking magazine was great. This style of furniture is awesome.
