Bridgewood MS-10 Floor Mortiser.. E-bay
If anyone is interested at a chance of a floor mortiser at a non deep pockets price, there is a New Bridge-wood MS-10 that just went on auction on E-bay for 4 days +. It’s the last Curt Wilke has on hand in his warehouse after deciding to get out of the machine selling business.
Very heavy cast iron at around 400 lbs. actual weight. The BW MS_10 is 1 HP.. 220V and the MS-10 table doesn’t tilt as opposed to the BW MS-12. Nor does it have the vertical table movement of the MS-12 which is more of a industry grade as it weighs in at around a hefty 550 #. The list on it new was $899 I believe. Sunhill (Amazon also CT-10) is selling there’s on sale now at $785 plus shipping and it is basically the same machine from the same assembly line.
I just purchased Curt’s last MS-12 which retails for $1349 for $800 at auction price I bid. I had a choice of it or the MS-10 which I also bid on at $450. A gift from above IMO as the MS-10 was plenty for me, but doesn’t have the capacity for the larger 1 + chisels and table tilt. But at the price I couldn’t let the cash change hands quickly enough with a “thank you sir” thrown in!
Anyone looking for a floor mortise machine that doen’t want to reach deep in their pockets.. or could not otherwise justify a larger floor model because of pricing.. the auction gives you a chance at getting one at a reasonable price as I did with the BW MS-12. In my case very reasonable for a very heavy, quality machine IMO.
Go to E-bay and type in mortiser on the search mode. A look at the Wilke site for both MS-10 and MS-12 is: www.wilkemachinery.com
Good luck to anyone that might decide to bid. It’s a good machine IMO.

I'm not in the market for a floor mortiser, but am I understanding you to say that Wilke Machinery is going out of the machine selling business?
Frank
Yes
Afternoon Frank...
Mapleman already got you answered on this one as Curt's current intentions are just servicing machines after all the machines are liquadated. As I spoke to him ths morning, that point is not too far off on the horizon.

That's too bad.
In these days where one or two huge companies seem to make/import/assemble everything and where box stores are dictating what we can easily get it is sad to see a place as unique as Wilke go away. That Bridgwood line was a good value. Many years back, when I was trying to set up my shop on a tight budget I took many a long drive from NJ to York PA for a machine. I'd even unpack things on his loading dock and disassemble sub assemblies to get it in my car!
Yes it is too bad.
Wilke is only about 35 minutes from the house and I was over yakkin with Curt about 3 weeks ago. It is true he had some import issues, but the main reason has to do with unscrupulous lawyers trying to make a name for themselves blaming their clients stupidity on inocent parties, whereby making the cost of doing business prohibitively high and therefore ruining a family's life work doing what they love to do.
Curt would probably be upset with me for informing ya'll of this, but I felt ya'll should know. Curt's a good man and a proud man, it's an injustice and just plain ain't right what happened to him and his business.
Chris. I detest injustice.
Afternoon Carvis..
Was not aware of what you stated and find it interesting. Curt did not mention that to me, so I will consider it a one of those "non-naaa yo business Sarge" personal matters. Regardless of why, I hate to see him close down the machinery line as he did what he did well and presented a good product at a fair price. I hope he does well in just the service end of matters.

Afternoon Frank...
I couldn't agree more with what you said. The BW is an excellent line and will be missed by those of us that have already experienced them.
