Bringing Cabinet Saw outta Mothballs
I have a cabinet saw, a Rockwell/Delta, vintage 1953 or so, that I expect to be putting back into action soon after about 10 years of not using it. It has been stored in my basement. The motor on it, a 2hp Baldor, is newer, installed c.1989, but has very little mileage on it. What I want to know is what should I do to get it ready to use again. Will the motor require some oil lubrication? Will the trunnels need some grease? Anything else? Of course, I’ll probably have to do a fresh alignment and remove any rust. Also, what about various other power tools…routers, sanders, etc that haven’t been used either in some time. I fear, also, that I am going to have to relearn how to use a lot of my tools all over again, especially the safety rules. Thanks in advance for any advice.
