I’m refinishing some steel kitchen cabinets. I plan to use a clear finish on them. For the outsides, I’ll use spray-can acrylic, but I want a brushable finish for the insides. I can think of only two possiblities for that: Zinnser shellac or Deft nitrocellulose. Minwax polycrylic is out since it has water in it. Any other choices out there?
PS: I want to brush the insides to avoid overspray blowing back into my face.

Finishing steel isn't something with which I have experience. Nor, from the lack of other replies, does it appear that many others have either. I suspect either of the evaporative finishes will work, assuming the surface preparation of the cabinets is satisfactory. From what I gather, complete cleaning is very important--one finger print can come back to haunt you.
I'd appreciate it if your experience provides some good information on what does (or does not) work in the end.
What type of finish is currently on the cabinets? I would prefer to spray the interiors and keep my face out of the way! Check out the products made by 1Shot http://www.1shot.com/home.html They may have wht you need.
