Gentlemen,
I am working some old, gnarly cherry that I bought from a friend. It has got rot and knots but it looks beautiful when cleaned up and
coated with tung oil. I make tables out of these slabs.
Edges of the wood have always had little tiny
holes, connecting to tunnels in the wood. I grind lots off and
finish with whatever remains. Still looks lovely.. And I have never
seen a bug. BUT now I am seeing little 1/4 inch sawdust piles in
some of the layers of my stacked lumber, stored out in the woods
under a tarp. Is there some mothball type solution I should paint
on the edges? Are these powder post beetles?
Thank you in advance for any thoughts.

I'm sorry but I don't know of a poison for killing these guys off. Kiln drying for a few days at 140 degrees or above will do the trick though. Sorry I have no more information. Gary
Thank you.John
