I am making some toyboxes: 30L x 24Wx16H. 3/4″ hard maple on ends; 1/2″ hard maple on sides. I do not have the skill to make dovetail joints so forced to make butt joints. Since grain direction will run horizontally I will have end grain to long grain at the corner joints. Best solution I can come up with is to use either biscuits or pocket hole screws. Which is the stronger?
Thank you.

Hi there,
For my money, I think pocket screws in most situations are stronger. They are however not so pretty as a plain looking butt joint. However in your design the biscuit slots on one side of the joint will be going into mostly end grain. No good for holding power. Use the pocket screws.
