i will be trimming a house using butt joint on the window and door casing. The material will be milled #2 pine. is it necessary to put biscuits in and glue the joints? ive never trimmed this detail before.

When you say "milled" what exactly do you mean. Are we talking Ranch (teardrop), Colonial, or just straight stock "milled" meaning thicknessed? I can't imagine standard casing being butt jointed at the corners unless it is straight.

*just planed for thickness and a slight round over
*p,The inside edges will have to be square, otherwise you will have a gap at the butt. Gluing is always a good idea, biscuits are not necessary. If the top trim piece does not extend over the side trim pieces why not mitre?Dano
