I’m looking to buy a new tablesaw. I’ve been looking at the Sears 1 3/4 hp model 227124 and the general 2 hp saw. Both are around the same price and are about the limit of what I can afford right now. Most of my work now is small casework and at the moment is relegated to my basement shop. Does anyone have anything positive or negative to say about either of these saws. I’d appreciate any input. Thanks

do a search of the arcives - there has been a lot of positive posts on the sears.
One thing I have noted - get it on sale, use the craftsman club to get another 10% off and anything else - some people have gotten it down to about $600
Thanks. I checked out the archives like you suggested. I'll be going with the Sears.
Hi cando - I've owned both of these saws and liked both of these saws. Even though the GI is a great contractor saw, I prefer the features of the 22124 over what any contractor saw offers. The 22124 is more like a cabinet saw junior. I suspect there may be a substantial price difference now. ($699 vs $999 retail) If you choose to spend $850 or more, I'd at least look at the GI 50-220CM1...a nice hybrid saw.
I've written positive reviews on both on Epinions. There's alot of detail about both saws.
