I am in the process of building an entertainment center with glass “by-pass” doors. The total span is about 36” so two 19 or 20 inch panes should do it.<!—-> <!—->

Does anyone have any suggestions for the tracks? Is suspect that I could by them pre-made, but would prefer to simplify dado out the bottom and top rails.
Any ideas for the configuration? Would two 5/16 wide by 14 deep dados do the trick for ¼ panes? Do I really need 1/4, or would 1/8 be acceptable?

Any idea of how deep the top channels should be to allow easy removal of the panes?<!—->

Thanks,<!—->

The ones for glass dors al seem to have captive balls in the bottom track. Glass is heavy, and these alow it to be pretty easy to slide the door. You could always rebate the track into a dado to hide it.

1/8" deep would be marginal. One thing to consider is whether the shelves at the bottom of the door or top will stay absolutely straight. If the bottom one sags, the doors would fall out. If the top one sags, it will prevent the doors from sliding.
Neil ,
You can easily make the track yourself . Use material that will match or compliment the unit . I would use 1/4" , also this will allow you to use either stick on handles or show case pulls that require a hole drilled in the glass . About a 1/32nd wider than the glass for the grooves in the track . After the unit is finished use some paraffin wax to lubricate the track for a smooth sliding action . The top track slots need to be at least twice as deep as the bottom track and then some .

What really makes little sense is they said if you use the same e mail addy then you could retain your profile , history and posts , one might think if we wanted to save our stats we may be thinking of continuing to use our names as well ? As is the world of wood working not a perfect one , webworkers aren't perfect either ! Why did they split the e mails from the names , until a name change is made ?
