I am going to be making a set of bypass closet doors. I am thinking of using Hafele or Hettich (SP?) hardware. I really like the 4 wheel trucks and enclosed channel design they both offer. I’ve used the Hafele on a pocket door because I never, ever wanted to tear into that wall again. The included stubby plastic bottom guides leave me less than confident or thrilled. I have floating laminate flooring over concrete slab that runs parallel to the door and runs continuously into the closet. I’m concerned about going through the flooring with screws without allowing for the floor movement. The base of the guide is pretty small and wouldn’t hide much in the way of slots. I’ve also thought about running a wooden track and trying to adapt some sliding glass door rollers. Anybody have any other ideas?

Is the laminate flooring thick enough to allow a screw into it but not through it? Does it have to be bypass doors? I have them but don't like them because half the contents are never visible.
The flooring is Pergo about 3/8” thick. (I know, I know it’s picture wood but we have a pool) If I screwed into it the doors would go out of plumb as the floor moved. Granted it wouldn’t be much, but I’d prefer a better design. There isn’t enough room for door swings so I’m pretty much stuck with bypass or bifolds and bifolds are the worst. The overhead hardware is awesome, nice adjustable stops with detents at the ends and very, very smooth. It ought to be for the price. The single track setup I used on a 30” bathroom door ran $95. hi elcoholic. im assuming your'e in the states but for my money the best tracks for pocket doors, bypass doors or anything of that ilk is by crowder track. actually the company name is k.n. crowder and they are in mississauga, ontario. their stuff truly rocks. hope this helps.
Looks very similar to the two euro brands in my original post. It's amazing how well this class of hardware works compared to the junk from the home centers or what most builders use. I'm hopeful Crowder's prices are better. Thanks.
