I dug out my HVLP sprayer, but no longer have the instructions. I’m trying to get back up to speed on operation.
The sprayer uses a compressor, and has a bypass regulator to supply low pressure to the 1-quart paint pot. Pressure is regulated by the knob at the front of the regulator.
There is another thing at the side of the regulator that I am trying to understand. What is it and what does it do? It is cylindrical, and has a threaded rod that adjusts with a straight screwdriver.
I will try to attach a photo.
Thanks for any information!

It looks like a pressure relief valve. Assuming that is what it is, it will vent air if the pot is over pressurized.
I wondered if that is the case, but I am not sure that it is. This regulator provides the pressure to the pot. Maybe the device limits the pressure that can be delivered to the pot.
I have been looking for this sort of device on the internet, hoping to get a user guide to tell me how to adjust it. No luck so far, though.
