Bypassing soft start and speed control
For most universal motor tools, especially routers, can one easily rewire to bypass soft start and speed control?
Of course, I am talking about the situation when the eletronic parts no longer work and cost too much to replace.
I tend to think that the electrical parts last longer than the electronic parts.
Has anyone here rewired to bypass the electronic parts, PC, Dewalt, Makita any brand.

Yes, but I think electronic speed control in particular is a good feature-could just live without soft start-only just.
I have an Elu Mof 96 and the speed control happens via a brown disk thingy which is a press fit on top of the armature shaft-if you take it off the router just runs at top speed..... no need to play with wires there.
"No need to rewire"
So if top speed is chosen the unit actually does not use the electronic part. There is a simple machanical way to bypass the electronics.
Interesting.
I wonder if this is standard design for most brands.

I don'tknow if it is a standard design for speed control-but have seen it on another router made in Chzekslovakia.
Strangely enough , I have not had any trouble to speak of with electronic parts in routers etc,.Philip Marcou
