Hey gang,
I am going to make my first cabinet door, and I have A question. First off I am using 3/4 inch oak for the stile and rail with 1/4 inch oak plywood. My opening is around 5 feet by 2 feet. Can I make one door that size, or should I make two of them to cover the opening. I hope that I gave enough info for you to understand.

BigDonny,
You could give us down to the longitude and latitude and that still wouldn't be enough for some folks!
First question. Which is up and which is across? 5 feet high? 2 feet high?
5x2 is big opening for a cabinet door. I think you would find that a single door that big, regardless of 5x2 or 2x5, will just not stay in plane very well. You would probably see a corner lifting up, twisting or racking away from the carcase. Especially if made with 3/4 stock for rails and stiles.
That said, if it were 5 high and I were committed to a single door, I would add a strong back or two on the vertical to help keep it flat. I think I might even do that if I were making two doors for that opening at that height.
If it is two feet high, then by all means two doors, and better three. Why three? A two foot high by 2.5 wide door is both out of balance for the eye and trouble for the hinges.
Oh, another question. For what kind of cabinet is the door?
