I am doing a project in a butlers pantry. Someone tossed all the original hardware. The hinges are not a problem but the latches are. They are a half mortise latch and all I can find in my cataloges are ones that use a key. I just want ones with a knob or handle of some type. Also the pattern on the wood shows the escushions were sort of a verticle marquise shape, only more rounded, not pointy. Any help finding a supplier or advice on retrofitting ? Joe13

Which catalogs have you already tried?

I've looked in Van Dyke's Restorers, Antique Hardware and Home, and Woodcraft. I also tried some general searches on the internet but got more of the same.
Thanks, that helps us not duplicate your effort.forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
Try Lee Valley & Veritas Hardware Catalog at http://www.leevalley.com.

Thank you for the links, they have a lot of great things but none that meet my wants. Everything in a half mortise latch/lock seems to require a key. One exception, I did find in VanDykes a 1/2 mortise latch with no key but no handle or knob either. I suppose if I can find knobs and shafts that fit I could make this thing work. I don't think it should be this hard? joe13
A couple of things to keep in mind as you search for this elusive piece of hardware:
It's real difficult to find the correct item on-line for this small stuff -- paper catalogs are much more helpful.
"Latch" implies a lock. Look also for "catch" or "pull." "Catch" sounds more like what you want.
Good luck!forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
