Hi!
I am new to the woodworking community and woodworking. My first project was to build a linen closet in our bathroom. I thought it was going to be an easy project, but I am stumped on what I did wrong with my doors! As you can see in the pics, the door barely covers the opening. I built the door 1 1/2” wider than the opening so I would have 3/4” overhang on each side. Did I make my doors too narrow? Am I using the wrong hinge?
Thanks in advance for your insights!
Matt

The hinges look fine. If I was to guess I'd say you didn't accommodate the length of your tongues on the rails. It looks like that would account for the missing width. I've done exactly that before making doors for my own kitchen.
The part that doesn't make sense is that the doors are 3/4" wider on each side than the opening. That is why I was thinking the hinges were wrong. Thanks!
You may be able to order some new hinges with a smaller offset to center them based on the new width.
Thank you!
Hinges are on the right? Looks like you are using 1 1/4” overlay hinges. You want 3/4” overlay hinges.
Thank you! I will look into those.
