Suggestions for steps to finish kitchen cabinet doors using oak as the frame and Maple as the panel.
The stiles and rails are all cut (mitered) and with dado for panel and biscuit slots have been cut. I added a slight bevel (7/8″) on the face and a kerf (3/32″)on top of that
They have been dry fitted
I will be using neutral stain with some pecan.
The maple finished and panels cut was finished with 8 coats of satin clear lacquer (from a spray can) and looks great.
I did a test and stained a couple of the frames and glued and assembled with the panels I did get some swell around joints which was correctable but may not have been if they were also poly’d
If I glued up then taped the panels off my concern is the build up of poly around the panel that might been visible should the frame shrink in the winter or possible mistakes (sanding, bleed or seepage) to the panels if I glue up first.
or maybe i could tape off the panels then when i am applying the last coat of poly – remove the tape and poly the whole door.
I think this is my only choice or to find somewhere that can spray them for me. but this and buying a couple of cases of spray doesn’t seem financially viable or practical.

1st - where you see flaws others might not notice. Unless, of course, you feel the need to point them out. In that case, use post-its to pin point them.
And sometimes it's okay, maybe more beneficial to finish first.
Good luck, looks good so far.

Hal Taylor strongly recommends Minwax Wipe on Poly Satin 50/50 mix with Mineral Spirits for Rocking Chairs.
Thank you, I like the idea of thinning the mix. It would be easier to control but longer in process? - no doubt satin.
Tape off joints, stain, glue up, poly every 4 hours, lightly sand every 1-2 coats, (320/400), b4 last coat 600, maybe rub with a paper bag after allowing to dry 24 hours, apply some wax, drill for hinges and hw, hang doors, post pictures, enjoy
