Need some help with a corner doll cabinet my wife wants me to make for my daughter. It’s to be painted white so I’m planning to make it out of 3/4 birch ply.
I’m going to rip the sheet in half to make each side about 24″. The height will be 72″. My question is this.. how do I join the cab at the corner joint?
I’ve thought about ripping the sheet at a 45 degree angle and using biscuits but.. what a glue up that would be.
Any ideas or suggestions would be much appreciated.

Bill, rip one piece at 24". Rip the second at 23-1/4" (or a measurement to suit your alleged 3/4" ply.) Run that Lie-Nielsen(sp?) no.5 plane along the edge of the 23-1/4" piece to slightly bevel the edge so that the corner formed is 91.5°±, and biscuit the edge of the narrower piece to the face of the 24" piece. It'll be much simpler than a mitred job, and you could even butt, glue, and nail it together. Chances are it would be plenty strong enough by the time you get the top and bottom triangular panel in, and the front frame, if you're using that.
You could of course just tilt the sawblade 1° or 2° to cut the edge of the 23-1/4" wide piece to make your corner joint just slightly more than 90°, but then you wouldn't have the chance of using that nice wee plane you've got.
Room corners are seldom 90°, and it's normal to make corner cabinets just slightly more than 90° in the back corner so that the front edges of the sides fit tight to the wall. Small commensurate(sp?) angle adjustments are usually needed to make the top and bottom, the returns (if part of the design) and front face frame, and so on, fit neatly.
I see you weren't flashing your damaged fingers around earlier too much for all to see, ha, ha. Slainte.

Richard.. thank you. Your solution is so simple and elegant I'm not surprised I failed to think of it.
As for the L-N plane.. I can just imagine what I would do to a length of plywood with a plane. Probably turn it into 10,000 toothpicks. Think I'll try the other option you offered, instead.
Finally got the hand to stop bleeding enough to take the bandaids off. Smarts some when I shove it into my pocket as I walk past the drill press, though.
Thanks again, Richard. And.. right smart photo of you on the news stands.

My pleasure, Bill. The photo is scaring, I admit--sorry, ha, ha. You can always pick up the phone if have a question. Slainte.Website The poster formerly known as Sgian Dubh
Bill,
I have a set of plans here for a corner piece that removes the last 6" of that 24" piece of birch ply and dados the ends into a short piece of ply that is parallel with the front. Lot more work, lot more angles to screw up...but just wanted to share....
