There are a number of programs that will let you save it as a bitmap of Jpg file which you can manipluate there.
One free one is to Google search for Wisdom soft's Screen hunter and download it. It will make a jpg or Gif file of what ever you outlione on your screen.
Some CAD programs let you save as an image file. With the drawing as you want to see it on screen, Go File > Save as > and selct *.btmp or *.jpg in the save as file type dropdown menu.
Sometimes you can even do a trick - Go file, save as, and even if JPG or Btmp is not amoung the choices, type (name)*.Jpg in the name line anyway and select "all files" from the file type .
Once you have saved it, you can open in you phjoto program to massage it to life.
Another way I can use for some things is to print to PDF. A pdf file is essentially a Jpg type of image so you might be able to open that inmage in photshop to work with. There are some free pdf writer programs out there too, but the real one is an Adobe product. That may or may not help with importing to their photo programs.
good luck. What CAD do you use? What is it's native file saving format?
Excellence is its own reward!
Piffin, I lost the ability to save my cad drawings as jpegs when I updated to windows xp. I just downloaded ScreenHunter and it's great, thanks

I just tried this and it worked fine ... in AutoCad highlight whatever you want to include in the Photoshop image and copy it to the clipboard (Edit/copy). Then open photoshop and create a new image of whatever size you want then paste the clipboard onto it.
Be safe,
Ken
You can set up an autocad raster printer in the plot configuration. this will create an .EPS file which will convert into photoshop.
Good luck
Thanks for the info. I have Ashlar-Vellum Graphite 6.4. Wont copy/paste ,cant save files in any form other form except the native Graphite file(*.vc6). In the export menu I can choose from several file types eps is one photoshop gives a message saying it cant open for some reason. Can also choose bitmap but the drawing is incomplete and about a1/2 inch tall. Talked to the tech support and he said the best thing to do is print the file with the pdf printer available with adobe acrobat 6 professinal At a cost of 300.00 bucks. I know that there's been a mention of free down loads of pdf printer or converters but I dont really know what I'm looking for. Havent tried the screen hunter any more thoughts or descriptions as to how this works. Doesnt windows xp have the capabilities of taking a picture of the screen . I have xp home edition.
If you press alt-print screen together it takes a snapshot of the active window and puts in on the clipboard. From there you can paste it in PhotoShop.
Be safe,Ken
Get your wireframe as large as possible on screen and take a screenshot or use the snipping tool in windows to create a JPG. Open the jpg in APS and go to town. The snip will need to have the resolution boosted, but since it is pretty much a line drawing the results are pretty good. The sharpen edges filter helps.
I use General Cadd Pro 14, great program, a direct descendent of General Cadd from the nineties. Has full capiblities as any full drawing program. Two letter commands, a great macro program and good support. As with any Cad program, there is a learning curve but for those who want a full blown drawing, drafting, and surveyor TIN. Save to most, Autocad versions including the newest version. You can download the program and use it for free, but, the save function does not work. But you can play with it and snip
the session you are working on. Saves to all later Autocad formats, DXF, PDF JPG & PGN.
