Anyone here is using CAD under Linux (instead of Mac or Windows). I’m working things out with Inkscape (www.inkscape.org), but this is a general vector graphics software rather than designed to draft woodworking plans.

Go to freshmeat (www.freshmeat.net) or sourceforge (www.sourceforge.net) and do a search. There are tons of open source, Linux based Cad programs there. Find one that suits your needs.
Qcad is quite OK. Otherwise the Progecad folks say thay theirs will run under Wine.
What you can also do is install Virtual Box and then create a virtual Windows machine in it. You then run Windows (possibly even a Mac, not sure) as just another task under Linux.
Virtual Box is rock solid.
