Can anyone recommend a “mini” gun for spraying
Lately, I’ve been working on a project with relatively small parts. Using the normal size spray gun doesn’t seem worth it. It’s got a big cup and the fan pattern seems excessive for parts which are, in most cases less than 2″ wide. I was considering a “mini” gun. Like most things, the selectionis broad with price swings to match. Does any one have experience with a mini gun that could give me a recommendation?

I was thinking along the same lines while looking for an HVLP sprayer a couple of months ago. But, I settled on an Earlex 5000, which has a 1 liter pressure-fed container. When nearing the end of a series of shelves, I "just knew" I was getting low on paint, but finished up OK. When I opened the can, there was maybe a tablespoon of paint left, even theough the sprayer hadn't coughed yet.
If I did miniatures, though, I might think in terms of an artist's air brush.

I recommend that you visit your local autobody supply store and ask about a gravity fed HVLP mini touch up gun. They should be able to give you good advice on what the local car painters use. I work on small boxes and accent pieces and have found that i can mix about 1 or 2 ounces of finish and end up with little or no waste. mine cost $119.00 and has all the adjustments for spray pattern, flow rate, and air volume. They should also be able to hook you up with various tips for different types of finish and viscosities.

Here is a company I used while working for Mattel in El Segundo Ca. They handle most all mfg.

I've used a mini gravity feed gun from harbor freight for years and never had any problems. They go on sale all the time and I think I paid about ten or twelve dollars for it. I got this tip from an Auto body paint shop owner. I use it to paint small parts like wood buttons or any small wood parts.
