I would screw a metal bracket to the ceiling at the left front corner of the shelf you want over the bins, then use threaded rod from the ceiling to your shelf. Then you don't need anything coming up from the floor. It will hold less weight than a 2x4 to the floor, but it should be more than enough, as long as you don't use it for your anvil collection.
A couple of examples, if the links work:

I cant quite figure out what the problem is. What exactly is your end-goal? You want to have a shelf above the bins but cant support it without the long vertical stud on the outside corner which is in your way? Is that it? How about making it a stand-alone four legged bench?
Yeah, the vertical post off to the left/distance, while technically could work there, is an extremely tight fit for allowing the door to open. Wondering if I could support/brace the eventual tabletop that'll cover the bins an alternative way and saving some of the space on that edge side.
Assuming not too much weight on the shelf, how about attaching vertical studs to the back wall (I realize it doesnt match the shelves you already made that way) and cantilever a support of the new shelf from the wall side. But even its just the shelf and not the left post, it seems like it will still be in the way of the door. As far as pegboard, skateboard, etc., you could mount that to the back wall. If you put something on the left side, you create an inaccessible dark space in the corner. Consider a neater Gladiator-type system as well.
Depending on what is going to be setting on the shelf you could move your vertical support to the right by 18-24 inches to where it sits between the green and blue bins and cantilever your shelf off of that. Build up some extra support under the shelf like 8-12 inch centers or so. That would give you the feeling of a more open space near the door and should be substantial enough. You could go a step further as John_C2 said and attach a threaded rod from the ceiling to the cantilevered shelf for peace of mind.
Make the bottom shelf on the right shorter, move the post and shift all the bins over.
