Hi all. New here looking for some advice. I have a pygrography and soft pastel fine art piece done on basswood that I have finished with an oil based Poly. The pastels faded dramatically and I’m curious if I *very lightly* sand the surface and reapply some of the pastel highlighting, will I be able to use a spray poly over the artwork. (Can’t reapply brush poly as it will smudge the pastel work. Any advice appreciated. Thanks all.

I would say yes if it's also oil based. Ideally you will use the same poly, thinned, that you brushed on. You should test the entire finishing process on a scrap piece to make sure that the results are as desired.
