Can Mac Sketchup read Win Sketchup files
I’m thinking of changing over to a Mac. But I have several Sketchup models that I built in Windows.
Does anyone know if the Mac version of Sketchup will read the Win versions or if there is a conversion utility?
Thanks,
Mike D

As of a year or so ago it could. I worked with a guy (apple type) that did sketchs on his home computer (and apple) and then loaded them into his work PC. So somehow that works.

Thanks,
I looked for an answer on the Sketchup site, but couldn't find it.

Yes, they will work just fine between Mac and PC.
Mike:
As others have said, you will have no problem opening Sketchup files in a Mac or PC and vice versa. However, you will find that some plug-ins do not work on the Mac side.
I have Windows installed on my Mac and so when I need a PC plug-in I just run SU on the Windows side and use the particular plug in.

I flip back and forth between Mac and Windows constantly. Never had any trouble with Sketchup. The same file works just fine on either computer platform.

Mike, if you can get access to a Mac with SketchUp on it, give it a try. I have SU6 on both PCs and the Mac at home. I don't really care for the toolbars and other things about the Mac version. I much prefer the PC version of the program. Some folks prefer Mac, though.
There are also some plugins that don't work on Mac. Whether that's a problem or not for you, I don't know.
