Can someone point me to the tool test comparison of big bandsaws? And a bonus bandsaw question
The search engine here is rubbish.
Looking for the big ones—17” or better. I seem to recall them favorably reviewing Grizzly.
Any thoughts on a circa $2k 17” or bigger bandsaw? Looking for something that can be auctioned off when I die in 30 or 40 years.
Thank you for any help you can offer.

So, I purchased a MiniMax 16 (Formula S440P) from First Choice Industrial in Auburn, GA. Granted this is only a 16" machine but someone in my family will enjoy this machine when I'm dead.
It ain't no $2K machine, but worth every penny!
If you type in "18" Bandsaw test" you will get the results you want although it dates back to 2004 so not much value in my opinion.
My experience with Grizzly tools is not good even though I bought the FW best buy G06430XP planer/jointer. On the other hand I love my Laguna 18BX bandsaw.
I had the same question for the last year, and found very little hard info. But stay tuned as I just ordered the 24in Powermatic (5HP 1ph). HUGELY PAINFULLY expensive, but have had very good experience with Powermatic in past. It wont be delivered for another month at least, but when it does arrive I will post a full review.
As with hoovermd I also purchased a minimax 16 years ago and love it. It’s not an 18” saw but it is a super solid workhorse. I also have a laguna 14bx and think its a good saw but not the quality of the minimax. Have an older 12” grizzly jointer that I will one day replace with a higher quality machine. I know people who love grizzly stuff, but my experience is such that I would not buy grizzly again. Their pricing sure is tempting though. I believe you could find a used saw of higher quality in your price range if you are patient and keep an eye out. Good luck!
Forty years ago I purchased a 14 inch Walker turner cast iron bandsaw. It is my go to except for resaw.Twenty four years ago I was gifted a 36 inch Philadelphia tool works cast iron monster.I painted, rebuilt it replacing the flat belt drive, and it resawed for everyone in my guildWhen I moved I gifted it to a marine youth organization and purchased a made in Italy 24 inch Laguna. If you can find an Italian Laguna GRAB IT !
