Dear Gary:
I live in California, which prohibits the interstate sale of nitrocellulose lacquer. I therefore cannot purchase it. I have spent 4 months building a Mass. Highboy chest in Cherry. I have finished it and have used Lt. Brown Mahogany dye, Golden Oak Stain, Clear Shellac and what nitrocellulose lacquer I had on hand. Unfortunately I ran out of nitrocellulose lacquer. I’d like to add more coats of lacquer. Can I use J. E Moser’s Premium Spray Lacquer on top of Bahlen Qualalacq Spray Lacquer? How long should I wait if it is possible to do so?
Best Regards,

Mike,
I have to admit the greatest of ignorance on this subject. I don't spray lacquer as I hate the smell, don't want to mess with a spray booth, and prefer that my pants fall down at the end of the day rather than stand up in the corner stiff with lacquer overspray.
I would suggest asking Peter Gedrys on this site this same question as he is the finishing expert. My guess is you should be able to, but as always I'd try a sample first before committing my project to this. Good luck.
Gary:
Thank you for your prompt reply.
