Does anyone know of a way to improve the dust collection on a circular saw?
I thought that Eruika-Zone had a way, but I don’t find it.

Buy a saw with good dust collection built-in. They tend to have enclosed blades. Festool builds a two. Makita builds one intended for cutting cementatious board (Hardy Board and Plank) that works just as well on wood if you put a wood blade in it.
Mike,
Are you refering to a circular saw? Mikita does a decent job with their dust port. I've hooked a shop vac up to mine when I want to mimimise the dust.
Hi Frenchy,
Yep, a circular saw. I'm using mine to rough cut panels - need a way to cut down on the dust.

Ah, Saw Muzzle by Dustless Technologies. Look at http://www.dustlesstechnologies.com/DustMuzzle_Videos.php.
Hard to see the device at the scale of their illustrations, but I think something like this is what I was remembering.

I use the eurekazone saw guide with a PC 423MAG saw. The PC has a dust port that can be hooked up to a vacuum, and this doesn't interfere too much with using the saw guide, provided you have room to move the hose around.
Dino showed me a few small plastic pieces made from thin clear sheet, which can be attached to the saw guard in a way that it keeps dust from escaping out the back side (before it has a chance to be sucked up from the vacuum). I haven't added these yet, but I can see their usefulness.
Mike.
First you need to stop the dust from escaping.

If your saw don't have a dust collection port,
you can use one from Bosch. Works on all saws.
Good luck.

Eurekazone.
Thank you Dino, that is very generous!
I have the PC mag left hand version. Looks like this will work great.

Mike,
Call the office if you need the special Left Smart Base.
Thanks.
How about making your own. I put something together recently in order to cut some MDF down to size. Seems to catch about 2/3 of it and I plan to add some lexan around the sides to improve that.
Anyone have any other suggestions? Do off-the-shelf products do any better for a non-festool saw?
Andy
Looks like it would cut down on splintering of the edges as well.
In my case, Dino had the best suggestion - add a small piece of flexible plastic to the front of my PC Mag to improve it's built-in collector connection.

I just finished adding Dino's suggested small clear plastic dust guard to my Porter Cable, and now, with the PC's dust port hooked up to the shop vac, very nearly no dust! It's such an effective and inexpensive improvement to the saw, I don't know why PC doesn't include it.
Thanks, Dino!

Mike,
You can make it even better.
Make few test cuts and close any fine dust "escape routes"
with clear silicon caulking (where the factory edge guide goes)
You want 100% dust collection?

I will certainly try that, Dino.
