carbide bandsaw blade sharpening
Hi, I have several lenox tri master 1/2″ and some 3/4″ bandsaw blades that need resharpening or they are history. At roughly 160 dollars ea. I have figured in the cost as part of the big picture of keeping my customers happy. I know of at least one forumite here that gets his sharpened on east coast, but that sharpener won’t do mail order work from where I am on left coast. Lenox doesn’t recommend sharpening these blades and won’t point me to a sharpening service. Does any one here know where I can get these blades re sharpened? Thanks, Robert in Mendocino, Ca.

Hi give Standard Saw in Oakland CA a call they are pretty good and should be able to steer you in the right direction. Also give laguna tools a call they are advertising that their carbide tipped bandsaw blade is resharpneable they might be able to help.
Good luck
Troy
Thanks Troy, but no cigars. Standard saw says no and laguna will only sharpen their resaw king blades.
oh well
Robert,
Just curious, my understanding of Tri-Masters is generally the steel band will fatigue and break much before the teeth need to be resharpen, what species and how much of it did you cut to dull the teeth?
Sorry I am a right coast person, but maybe Ridge Carbide Tool in NJ could resharpen the Trimasters. They are a tooling manufactor, so even if they can't sharpen the bands they may know of someone who can.
Hi, I am resawing old growth redwood billets for guitar tops. The billets are from 10 to 12 inches high by about 28 inches long. My best way to estimate blade life is to figure how many hours I bill per job till blade is too dull to get good slices. Rough estimate is about 24 hours. Some of the time I am also resawing exotics for backs and sides but lately only the redwood. For about 20 billets I get about 400 slices. It's really hard to nail down because the billets vary a lot in usable thickness. thanks, Robert in Mendocino.
Oh yea, for the 24 hours I would be getting through 40 billets, or 800 slices. Hope this isn't too confusing. sometimes all that time standing at my bandsaw is like watching paint dry, but the pay is good eneough to keep at it.
