I am about to deliver my first commissioned piece and realized that I don’t know how to care for the synthetic finish I’ve used.
I use Dalys Profin with 3-5 coats.
Also something that will cover up the final sand marks that are slightly visible in the right light.
Regards and cheers,

Hi Mike,
Cleanliness, as in all things, is next to godliness. That’s all I would worry about with a wiping varnish finish. Keep it clean. Wash it down a mild soap/ water solution once in awhile and wipe dry. No point in doing anything else unless you’re going to wax the finish as well. Then it will surely collect dirt but be shiny for awhile. Clean the surface then when dirty, wipe it down with a rag lightly dampened with thinner, and then rewax.
As for “slightly visible in the right light” scratches...
turn out the light.
Seriously, are these scratches really that visible? If so, then off to the auto finishing supply house for some 1500 and 2000 grit sandpaper. First let that finish cure for a week or more and then rub it out with finer and finer abrasives until those pesky scratches disappear. You can use water or a light oil to help lubricate your work. Don't rub through at the corners. Best, Gary
Yes corners... never cut them...
Thanks for the recommendation, mild soapy h2o cures many things...
I ultimately went to 4000 grit for that much higher shine to remove the finishing streaks (not scratches as I previously thought... )
Thanks...
ps i'll try to keep the lights off in the future while inspecting finishes...

Glad it worked out Mike. Pro-fin is a great finish but a wee bit finicky. Best, Gary
