Hello all,
I am looking for someone that can do some carving for me. I started making Chess Boards and selling them and it’s going good. Then all of a sudden people started wanting Chess Pieces. I can turn everything except the knights. I’ve tried carving these and have learned that doing an original isn’t so hard but to copy that is turning out to very difficult.
I don’t have the time to learn this as there are so many other things I am trying to learn and frankly I don’t have the inclination to learn it either.
I am offering to pay someone to carve the knights for me. I would send via mail the 4 bases already turned with enough wood left on to carve the knights. The shipping would already be paid for the return trip. I’m not looking for anything intricate just the form of a horse. Here’s a link to a picture of the one I did and like the looks of. Like I said it’s not very intricate there’s no mane no eyes or anything just the shape of a horse, I would like all 4 to look some what alike. I am figuring $100.00 for the four knights.
Please email me if there are any takers.
Here’s a link to the picture. These aren’t the actual pieces they were test pieces. But I do like the shape of the knight.

The best carver I know of in Yankee-Doodle land-- assuming you're in that part of the world is Lee Grindinger at http://www.furniturecarver.com He's not cheap, and I know he's busy, so he may not be very interested in repetitive work, but he's definitely good. He drops in here once in a while and might know other carvers near you. Slainte.

Well, Sgian, that's very decent of you. Put a Guiness on my tab.
Actually I think this is more up the alley of a serious amateur or beginning carver.
Yeah, I'm expensive and booked through the end of November. I don't get over here to Knotland much anymore but it's nice to know I'm not entirely forgotten.
Lee
