Hello All,
I just finished a 1 week carving class in Austria at the Geisler-Moroder Schnittsschule www.schnitzschule.com and had a great time. I was impressed with how much one can learn in a hands on school enviroment in one week and the jump in skills even after many years of woodworking.
For sure, I will take another class there again this year – they are really great and very professional – but I was thinking about trying a school in the US for a completely different perspective after the next class in Austria – to get the feel of different methods of work.
Can anyone recommend a school to contact that offers 1 or 2 week classes in small groups for advanced carving? The location does not matter as I am traveling from Europe.
Many Thanks (and a great 2007)
Jim

Leonid Zakurdayev in Philly is one of the most accomplished carvers in this country. His accent is a bit thick but a European ear should have no trouble. http://zakurdayevfinewoodcarving.com/index.html
David Calvo is a really good guy, http://www.davidcalvo.com/
Ian Agrell is a great carver and teacher but his teaching style lends itself more towards private lessons. http://www.woodcarvingworkshop.com/courses/index.html
Nora Hall teaches, http://www.norahall.com/
That should get you started. I teach but ony in one on one classes unless I'm doing a fundamentals seminar.
