Norm was building a six panel Mahogany exterior door. He used a caulk that he said was, waterproof, adhesive, paintable and elastic. The caulk was in a yellow and black tube but they did not show or tell the manufacturer of the caulk. Would any of you guys know the name of the caulk he was using? I can’t find a caulk in Home Depot or Lowe’s in a yellow and black tube. Thanks.

Paul,
I think this might be it. It's called HiPurFormer.

I'm not sure if it's the same or not since I didn't catch that episode. But I have a tube of DAP brand "Painter's Acrylic Latex Caulk" which fits your description. There's a black and a yellow band on one end of it. The rest is white with both green and black lettering. It says "ALEX" on one side... No idea what that's supposed to mean, though.
I suspect that you'll find more than one manufactorer hawking a similar product. Rather than just looking for a yellow and black tube, you might just describe what you're looking for to whomever you deal with at the local hardware store. I'm sure you'll end up with something that will do the trick nicely.

Nope, neither one of the products you guys mention is the caulk Norm has in his caulking gun. I know for sure what Painters caulk is, I've been using it for years. And the other one suggested is hot glue. That's not it. I know you can't build an exterior six panel mahogany door with hot melt glue. I'll keep looking, but thanks guys. Oh, and as far as asking the kids at the big box stores for information goes, LOL, have you tried that one lately?

Are you sure he was using it as a caulk -- or was he using it as an adhesive to hold the joints together?
If the latter, it was probably PL Premium Construction Adhesive, which is generally available in the home centers these days (and it comes in a yellow/black tube).

Paul,
The exterior door program ran here on January 13. I recorded it and luckily still had it, so I was able to go back and take a look.
Rather than a yellow and black tube, it appears to have been a black tube in a yellow gun. One of the gun's ribs covered a fair amount of the print, but from what I was able to make out, it looks very much like it was Geocel Pro Flex, which does come in a black tube:

Their "Where to Buy" lists five places in Cleveland, but according to Google, you can also get it at your local Ace Hardware.

Dan, you hit the nail on the head, I'm glad you recorded that program. I recorded Norm's programs for years but my VCR took a dump about 6 months ago and I haven't sprung for a new one yet. That is the stuff I want. I'm going to give it a try. I have an Ace Hardware 1/4 mile from the house, I'll be there in the morning. Thanks again Dan.
Paul
That's not fair!
You misled us! You said, "The caulk was in a yellow and black tube but they did not show or tell the manufacturer of the caulk."
Now Dan wins the LN chisel set! He cheated too cause he taped the show! I'll bet you both schemed this whole thing!
