Looking to purchase an air filter for my general woodworking shop, and the local dealer said I could either get two small ones or one large one. Workshop is 40′ x 40′ x 10′.
If I get two, the placement options would seem to be one over the lathe/table saw area and one over the workbench for sanding dust, or the 2nd closer to the spraying area. Leaning toward the former so that the air filter wouldn’t draw dust to the spraying area. Is my thinking OK or all muddled?
For anyone using one, do you leave it on all night when ready to spray finish?
Thanks for all the input.

Don,
With a shop that size, I would go with the two collectors in the first layout. My
shop is much smaller, so I use a centrally located overhead. Because my shop is in
the basement, I also use a portable dust collector and my shop vac to supplement.
Good luck,

With a shop that large I would think you might need two of the large ones, but, you did not define large or small. The rule of thumb is that you ought to be able to recycle all of the air in about 10 minutes based on the cubic feet per minute capacity of the air cleaner. Generally you want to set up a race track type flow around the shop so that you can efficiently clean all of the air. So. mounting them more or less opposite eact other and about mid shop would probably work. But, you should check the experts, several available books or the Bill Pentz web site.
