Central Machinery 14 inch Band saw improvement
I have an older CM 14 inch 4-speed band saw
I want to know:
Would link belt much reduce vibration?
Would converting to single speed be more direct and efficient in reducing vibration, by getting rid of the step pulleys and driving the bottom wheel directly with just one belt and a single pulley on the motor?
Would urethane tire improve it by reducing vibration or otherwise?
Would side ball-bearing guides, instead of the steel blocks, be much better?
Thanks

A link belt will reduce vibration. I do not believe the step pulleys would be causing vibration. I would suggest you install a link belt first. If you still have a lot of vibration, it could be caused by the motor or the blade wheels.
Some steps to try if you still have vibration after changing the belt.
1. Remove the belt & run the motor. If the vibration is gone, try 2.
2. Install the belt, remove the blade, turn the saw on to test the bottom blade wheel. If the vibration is still gone, The problem is the top blade wheel.
