Central Machinery drill press issues
I just purchased a Central Machinery table top drill press for some light projects. During installation I tighten the pivot key for the table as far as I could by hand but the table simply dropped.
Should I try to get some rubber washers that would fit under or should I return it? Open to other fixes. The harbor freight near me isn’t very near so I’d prefer to fix rather than replace if it’s viable.

Sounds really ropey for a new machine. Maybe it is missing a piece or it's faulty.
If it is playing up already then I would ask for a replacement or a fix.
Just a guess... Might be simply the "pivot key" which I imagine to be a bolt with a hinged tab to tighten it has been put in on the wrong side. One side is threaded, the other not. Go through the non-threaded side first and into the threads and see if it tightens up.
