Central Machinery Heavy Duty Combination
I am looking at getting the Central Machinery Heavy Duty Combination Belt/Disc Sander from Harbor Freight Tools ($229.99, http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/Displayitem.taf?itemnumber=40643).
The price is in my range, and I have Central Machinery Drill Press that is working out great (all my other big tools are Jet).
I know that Harbor Freight tools have a bad rep, and I have a Chicago Electric Cutout Tool from there that was a bad investment.
Does anyone have the Central Machinery Heavy Duty Combination Belt/Disc Sander that can tell me if it is worth it? I am planning to get this for Christmas, around Dec 15th.
Is there a better Belt/Disc Sander out there for under $300 that you would recommend?
Thanks,
David Genrich

Based on the feedback that I have received on another wood working forum (http://www.sawmillcreek.org/), I think the Central Machinery Sander from Harbor Frieght is out. Seems like these two sanders are better, and in the same price range:

I am just not sure which one is better? Suggestions, comments, and help all welcome.

The Delta is pretty weak. I used one a while back and we bought it new but it was definitely not what I would buy. It wasn't on a stand but it was a dog. What will you use more- the disc or the belt? The 6"x48" is a lot more substantial and the 9" disc is a lot more useful. The fact that the 9" is on that one is an indication that it's more powerful. If you think that you'll use the disc a lot more, I would think about getting a separate disc and belt sander. I have been looking at the 12" disc at HF but they never seem to have it in stock and I think I want to try it before I buy one. I have their 2HP dust collector and it works well. I think they should have included nylock nuts instead of the ones it came with, though. The others keep loosening and falling off but that's easy enough to remedy. Other than that, I like it.
