People were saying earlier that a ceruse finish entails a coat of shellac followed by pigment that is rubbed into the grain.
I was wondering if anyone thought this recipe would work:
1. Washcoat
2. Analine dye
3. A barrier coat of lacquer
4. Tinted wood filler
5. More coats of lacquer
Sand and buff as usual.
Comments welcome.

Do away with step #1, and you're in business. What kind of wood are you using?
*I'm using light ash or "swamp ash" as some people call it.Why do away with the wash coat?Brent
*The washcoat would prevent the dye stain from penetrating into the wood. The lacquer barrier coat you mentioned as step #3 will be enough to lock in the dye color, and serve the same purpose.
