Where do you live, and where do you want to travel to?
Jeff Miller's chair class is a week long, and it is pretty good. He's in Chicago.

how about the windsor chairmaking classes near philadelphia?
I'd like to hear from anyone who went to one recently - is it a valuable experience (and fun)?
Thanks. I'm in the Pacific Northwest, so anything in the Portland or Seattle area would be convenient. In the summer I can range further, and since I enjoy New England, workshops in that region would be of interest. But I really don't want to rule anything out at this point.
Phil Lowe has a Queen Ann workshop schedules for late Aug 2008
He is located in Beverly MA (North Shore close to New Hampshire)

Look under the part time schedule
I've taken two chair classes with Phil and they are excellent.
If you are interested in Windsor style chairs and can come up to the beautiful coast of New Hampshire, check out the dean, Mike Dunbar.

Beat it to fit / Paint it to match
Take a look at Marc Adams site - marcadams.com. His school, just south of Indianapolis, is excellent and there are several differnent chair classes.

On the west coast, Dan Staltzer teaches how to build his style of ladderback chairs. They're remarkably comfortable, and he's a good teacher. http://www.mendocinofurniture.com/artists/19/
