Gary,
I asked for your advice on this chair about two months ago. Well, I just finished them and want to show you the final solution to the problem. The issue was: how to mount the rear leg to the bent lamination apron. I originally thought about 3 or 4 screws, but they will probably loosen eventually. You suggested a notch in the rear leg for more permanent support. What I finally chose is shown in one of the photos. I used threaded metal inserts with cap screws to attach the legs. This gave me some adjustment, which I did while the chair sat on a flat work surface. Once the chair was stable and the cap screws tightened, I drilled and glued a dowel into the two pieces. This provides a way to restore permanent alignment in the event that the cap screws loosen. I am very satisfied with this arrangement.
Best regards, Tom Abbott
