There's Brain Boggs in Berea, Kentucky, who regularly teaches classes for some of the better-known woodworking schools, and I think Lonnie Bird, in Dandridge, Tennessee, also has some chair-making classes at his school. There are many others; you might want to do a google search.

I have allowed a few onlookers willing to buy lunch and do a little manual labor watch me build a set of chairs. Once you've seen the compound angle tenon layout you're usually good to go. If you can wield a handsaw and a mallet and chisel the rest is pretty easy.
You near Memphis?
Clarkie, I also found a gent in northwest NC who was very strongly recommended that I made a note of- but the note is currently packed in a box in my future house in Rogersville TN. He was east of me and not too far. I intend to take some hand tool classes at Lonnie's and then chairs in NC. I can't do any of this till I move permanently after selling the old house.
Several months ago Lonnie's classes were maxed out for the entire year(I guess that's a positive indication of their quality,eh) so he's on my list for 2007. I attended a seminar by Brian and let me tell ya, he is one smart puppy. He figures all the heavy math, angles and the grain/stress impact on all the chair parts to insure the longevity of the joints. I wouldn't bet against him doing a base for a Windsor with no glue or wedges that would stay together just by the precise geometry of the structure.
Try to Google as Windsor /training/courses/schools and see if the NC guy shows up. I think he may have a book out and also may have an add in the back of FWW. GOOD LUCK, Pat
ps. If I have a brain surge and come up with his name I will post ya.pfh
Bob, I had the brain fart! It's 'countryworkshops.org' and I am sorry that I am not enough of a wire head to give you a click and go posting. The dude is Drew Langsner who runs a complex school site near Ashville NC. I have his Windsor chair book because the Dunbar book (out of publication -TAUNTON) was $200 on Ebay. Enjoy. Pat
ps. I had need to visit the room of meditation where I have a pile of books. Lo and behold (mostly lo) I spy Drews book. We just got lucky. pfh
