   Roundover is just fine.  You could also chamfer it by hand with a block plane.

   You can use a roundover bit but there are two potential problems:

   1.  If you set the bit too low, the outer edge of the bit can chew up the laminate, this can't happen with a chamfering bit.  You can easily set the bit high enough to avoid this however.

   2.  If you achieve almost a full roundover profile, the laminate will have a very low angle bevel on it which can be fragile.  Again this can be avoided by setting the roundover bit high enough that the bevel on the laminates edge is cut at a minimum of 45 degrees or less from vertical.

   Its possible that he has a bead and not a round over, in which case he might be able to route the edge without the worry that you suggest.

   Just a though, some people refer to beads as roundovers

   hey Ryan:

   Ring..............wrang the bell.  Don't get crazy.......Block plane or even a sanding block.

   Thanks to all for the input.  As it happens, I was out yesterday and ran across a great deal on some router bits.  Went ahead and got a chamfer.  BTW, I highly recommend the Woodpecker Precision Router Lift.  I installed one in the table and it is AWESOME.

      Hi.

   I almost always put a roundover edge on table edges , with or without laminate edges. On lamanite tops I leave a small ledge on top about the thicknes of the laminate. Dont know if iI made myself clear ,drop your roundover bit down until you have a drop off just before the roundover starts.
