I recently purchased a used dewalt 735 planer. when removing the blades (for sharpening) the first time, the cutterhead lock leaver worked wonderfully. when i depressed it, it would let the cutterhead turn so i could get to the next knife. now when i depress the leaver, the cutterhead is still locked and won’t move very much at all. any thoughts on why it use to work (allow me to turn the cutterhead when depressed) but now doesn’t? it appears to depress all the way, as it should. Thank you.

I did a web search and found this site (hope this helps):

Whew... spammy looking site. Took me a bit too long to figure out it didn't really break any spam rules though.
Am I missing something though? The page is about the 735, but nothing about this issue that I saw.
i didn't really find an answer to this on that link. thank you though.
I assume you have taken a brush/shop vac and cleaned up all the saw dust in the area. Just to make sure some dust or a chip didn't get lose and sneak in blocking the mechanism just enough.
