Changing sand paper on the Grizzly Flap Sander
Anyone who has one of these flap sander knows it’s a great sander for irregular shapes however when it comes time to change the sandpaper, well that’s a nightmare… Long story short, I came up with a jig that makes this a snap! PM if you are interested and I can give you the details.

rj,
tell me, how do you like that sander? the pulls and handles on the cabinets that i like to make are shaped from crotched walnut. this stuff, as you likely know, does not yield itself to carving. i use files and rasps and hand sanding to get things done. a way to contour sand would be great.

The sander it's self is awesome! It does a great job on most everything I do. Sanding tight inside corners I think can be a challange but anything on the outside is a breeze. It takes a quick bit to get the hang of it but the sander it's self makes it hard to gouge your materail. My biggest complaint is when it comes time to change the sand paper! Up until now I am not sure how most people have re-assembled the flap assembly??? When it came time for me to change the paper and re-assemble I spent a half hour, with two of us, gave up and designed a jig that makes it a 2 minute job:)
All in all it's been a great addition to the shop! There's another review over on Lumberjocks.
I just came across your item about changing paper on the Grizzly flap sander and would appreciate hearing from you about the jig you came up with. As you said, it's a pain to change the paper and I use this sander a lot, so any help would certainly be welcome. By the way, what weight of sanpaper do you use? Thanks in advance for any help.
