I built a changing table last year which was pretty much a regular chest of drawers. The top of the chest is at a height (42") which allows the parents to stand up while changing the kid, rather than being bent over. The regular drawers on the chest means that spills or drops don't get inside; those open baskets underneath commercial changing tables are just begging for accidents. And the fact that it is a normal chest of drawers means that the piece of furniture will have use for decades, not just the period the kid is in diapers.
