Charles MC, a ? re: crosscut blades
Hi Charles. I need to get an “Ultimate Cutoff” blade for the Bosch 12″ miter saw. Can’t really afford the cost or the wait on an LU85. Will the Diablo version give me pretty close to the same quality of cut? I don’t mind if it doesn’t last quite as long, but need that excellent cut. TIA!!

Hi Jamie,
The Ultimate Cutoff LU85 has a special double side grind that we don't offer in any other blades at this time. A typical tooth is ground with relief angles that taper from front to back and from top to bottom. On the LU85 there are small flat areas adjacent to the faces of the teeth that have no relief taper and from that point the taper begins. This part of the tooth burnishes as it cuts to make the edge smoother. All of our high tooth count ATB crosscut blades will do a nice job but they will not burnish as well as the LU85. The TK407 Avanti would be a good lower cost alternative as would the D1280X Diablo.

Thanks, Charles, exactly what I needed to know!forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)Another proud member of the "I Rocked With ToolDoc Club" .... :>)
Hi Charles. I bought the Diablo 1296N and plan to install it Monday afternoon. So.....tell me.....what should I not use this blade for? I bought it to do fine and precise crosscuts in alder, poplar and various domestic hardwoods, usually 4/4 stock. The occasional 2x4 and next year, the Ipe deck that we couldn't afford to do this year. TIA!!forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)Another proud member of the "I Rocked With ToolDoc Club" .... :>)
Jamie,The D1296N is a TCG 96 tooth that was originally intended as a non-ferrous metals and plastics blade and with testing we found that it is also very good in wood and laminates. I think you will be happy with the results but if you can find the D1280X (or the TK407) ATB 80T which was designed as a fine finish miter saw blade you will be even happier.
