Cheap (shopmade) K clamp extentions
I made these while I was waiting for the other sides to dry, took about 20 minutes.
They are 7″ wide by however long you feel like making them. I had some MDF scrap that was just long enough. There is a cleat on the underside. I thought that the clamps would break the bottom of the MDF so I glued and screwed a ply support body to the end. If I did it again I would use ply throughout and skip the reinforcing body.
Anyway, they worked like a charm, and it’s a lot better than trying to use two K-body clamps end to end. (not to mention that it frees up the other clamps)

Excellent idea. I printed out the photo and will put it in my file. Thanks for sharing.
Very cool, thanks for posting the pics! Being a relatively new owner of some Cabinet Masters (from their 100th Anniv. sale), I love knowing about any tips or tricks that will increase their usefulness.

Tip one: a 70" K clamp is heavy. Don't drop it on your foot. (Or that 8 foot long cherry book case you just finish gluing up with said clamp)
Tip two: Even though it seems like a good idea at the time, never lean a clamp up against something upright. It will not stay erect even if you were to lash it in place
Tip three: Yes, in fact, you can break the cheeks off of a mortise by getting a little two exuberant with the pressure.
Tip four: There is no piece of joinery in the world as strong as your K clamp. If you have to crank the handle to get a joint to close up, re-fit the joint. No really.
Tip five: While it might prevent you from ever retiring, spending your entire Roth IRA on clamps will make you very happy in the here and now.
