Has anybody out there had any success w/inlaying a butterfly to hold a check from getting worse. I have been able to dry-clamp it closed and am wondering if applying glue to the entire split and inserting a buttrefly all the way thru would hold. This is a black acacia table top about 1″thick.

Sure. I do this often, esp. when working with slabs of wood where the whole width needs to be used. They are not too hard to do. Do you need help on methods of accomplishing this?
