I am about to start finishing my first project, a cherry kitchen. for a filler I think I will make up a mixture of fine sanding dust in hide glue that I have warmed will that accept a dye or dye based gel? planning to condition with a shellac product then color with the clearwater gel or behen dye enough to even out tones (using wood and plywood) then hvlp laquer will be testing this week, any comments?

I don't stain or dye cherry, but when i do need a little filler, I use fine sanding dust mixed with some of the finish(usually oil/varnish) that I'm going to use. The dust in the finish darkens right along with the rest of the work.
